The WARREN hens are laying well and we have a lovely WARREN Cockerel in with them.
Normally it is not possible to have a WARREN Cockerel but we managed to get one Derek is a very active boy.
The chicks are not sexable at day old but you will soon see how they develop the cockerels have a big comb.
The hens develop a comb when they come into lay
These hens are the best layers and the normal amount of eggs that will be laid is 320 in the first year.
These hens should not be fed corn, the layers pellets should have 17% protein and should have mixed poultry grit to help the digestion. The grit should be in a seperate container not mixed with the feed.
If a hen runs out of water and gets dehydrated it can take up to 3 weeks to get over it, so please make sure water is always available.
